At iSTARS we see the necessity to supply our students with current industry procedures, wants, and needs for new breaking artists. We direct our artists to formulate their individual marketing plan, establish a working team, do the research, and become goal oriented. Since artists today need to be self-sufficient at many levels we feel it is important to understand the basics of all areas when delegating responsibilities to integral components of career and business. You probably won’t be able to afford a qualified manager right off – so you need to know how to represent yourself, negotiate, and create long term business relationships. You also need to know where the money is today. Believe it, the Music Business is alive and well and full of opportunities for Indie Artists. It’s the Fat Cat Record Companies that are suffering. Job description: Sales Agent/Recruiter

As a Sales Agent your role would involve finding talented people that would best fit our school of music in the Toronto region. Research would be vital. You’d have to understand who your client is, and where to generate leads. On a daily basis you’d be speaking with potential students and maintaining contact with your administrative director. Your work would involve negotiating tuition fees between your director and the student, as well as obtaining students. If you love people and sales and are looking for a highly lucrative position, while experiencing a rewarding feeling of helping others, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

Hours/Environment:

Hours of work can be determined. Part-time and full-time needed. Work from home. Start date immediately. Training is done through admin office.

Skills and interests:

To be a good Sales Agent/Recruiter, you must:

  • have excellent communication skills in English
  • must be able to correspond via email, and knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • be able to generate and follow up with leads
  • be an excellent sales agent
  • be able to gain people’s confidence and put them at ease
  • be persuasive, persistent and patient
  • be of smart appearance, and a mature personality
  • be able to cope with pressure, be flexible and adaptable
  • have excellent organizational and administrative skills

Requirements for the position include:

 

Experience in sales would be a great advantage to you. This can include work in personnel, sales or office work. And there is no upper age limit for entry. Personal qualities would also be greatly important, particularly ‘people skills’ and your judge of character.

-Speak/Write English: Excellent

-Sales and phone experience preferred High level of motivation with excellent work habits and on

outstanding personality.

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (start proving this by sending a great cover

letter!)

-Academic qualifications won’t be necessary to become a Sales Agent, but having Grade 12 education

would be an asset.

-A detailed knowledge and experience of the field of music would be important and help you in your

search for new students.

-Sales experience can include work in personnel, sales or office work. There is no upper age limit for entry. Personal qualities would also be greatly important, particularly ‘people skills’ and your judge of character.

Annual income:

12% Commission on sales upon receiving tuition.
